School Day

At Harper Green School, our structured school day supports high-quality learning, personal development and student wellbeing. Alongside five hours of taught lessons, students benefit from dedicated form time, break and lunch, with a wide range of enrichment and extracurricular opportunities available before and after school.

The compulsory school day runs from 8:40am to 3:10pm, Monday to Friday, providing a total of 32.5 hours each week.

Students should arrive at school by 8:35am to ensure they are ready for form time or assembly, which begins promptly at 8:40am. Registers are taken during form time and throughout the school day.

Breakfast and refreshments are available before school, during break and at lunchtime in the school dining room.

Timings of the School Day

Before School	08:00 - 08:40
The school entrance opens at 8am. Students can attend the library and purchase refreshments from the school dining room.
Form/Assembly	08:40 - 09:15
Form time helps students prepare for the day ahead and dedicated Form Tutors will share importance notices and check readiness. On some days, students will have an assembly.
Period 1	09:15 - 10:15
Period 2	10:15 - 11:15
Break Time	11:15 - 11:30
Students have a 15 minute break and during this time they can read, socialise, study and play sports. Our dining facilities and library is also open.
Period 3	11:30 - 12:30
Period 4	12:30 - 13:30
Lunch Time	13:30 - 14:10
Students have a 40 minute lunch break, and during this time, they can eat lunch, read, socialise, study and play sports. Our dining facilities and library is also open.
Period 5	14:10 - 15:10
After School	15:10
There are a wide range of extracurricular activities available to all students after school. The library is also open until 16:00.
